8th Grade English
Hello, and welcome to my page!
Message to all of my new students
First of all, welcome to my English class! As you will discover, I enjoy teaching very much and look forward to working with all of you this year.
I know that many of you really enjoy reading and writing, and in my class you will have plenty of opportunity to excel. Some of you may feel as though English is not your strength and may struggle to find enjoyment in reading a story or writing a poem. I put a lot of thought into finding stories that you will find engaging and assign writing activities that you can be excited about. Through acting out plays in class, reciting crazy poems, and making fractured fairy tale videos, there are plenty of chances to enjoy the learning process.
You may not like everything we read or write. I want you to work with the many different styles of reading and writing so that, after you have had some experience with the different genres, you will have a greater idea of those areas in which you are strong, and those that need more attention. You can expect to have many opportunities to build your strengths and make strengths out of your weaknesses.
I'm not as concerned about a grade on a test as I am about the level of effort you put into having success in English. This is not an easy subject, and this class reflects the challenge of mastering the English language. If you put in the necessary effort, you will have a good deal of success. I am really excited to get started and welcome you into a great learning experience!
NO JETS, GIANTS, YANKEES, OR LAKERS FANS!
